The Introduction x Queer Culture Workshop
[The Q in LGBTQIA+] Breaking category conventions & building a more progressive brand
Leading brands in the Netherlands joined together to get a better understanding of what brands need to do to represent, celebrate and defend all LGBTQIA+ people and queer culture.
Knap.House, a queer consultancy and talent house start-up based in Amsterdam, led this in-person networking event, unlocking the opportunities queer inclusivity presents for marketing and communications.
Over a 2-hour collaborative workshop, we explored why representation is not enough, especially for the most marginalised in the community - Trans, Disabled & POC. Brands need to support and protect LGBTQIA+ people all year round, not just at pride, and not just in campaigns.
"LGBT people do not want to be disposable, tokenized, and definitely not used for queerbaiting anymore!" Matthew Carney, Founder of Knap.House.
